Street Etiquette – Sartorial Sounds

Street Etiquette delves into the world of music and sound with a new video titled “Sartorial Sounds.” Of course the project is in some way fashion-driven as it presents an intersection of music and style. Various personalities contribute via word, rap, song and tap for a comprehensive offering. Some of the people involved include Jesse Boykins III, Mara Hruby, Joekenneth Museau, Joshua Bennett, Theo Martins, Melo–X and Rinaldy Alvarez. The recognizable Andre 3000 song is also covered by Mara Hruby.

“Sartorial Sounds integrates both music and style, two elements embedded in every culture past and present. We think it’s important to remember that everyone is an artist in their own right. And it’s the life experiences we encounter that provoke what we splash on our own blank canvas. We assembled seven individuals to partake in this editorial. The finished product incorporates their individual talents such as spoken word, rapping, singing and tap.”

Playboy x Supreme – Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

For many generations, Playboy served as the first taste of women for many. Becoming an American icon as well as a global one, the Hugh Hefner-founded Playboy magazine teams up with Supreme on a new collection for this season. Featuring Jason Dill, this lookbook showcases the intersection of both highly respected brands as the Playboy bunny logo is applied on a stadium jacket, polo, button-up and a coaches jacket. Girls Got Kicks Female Sneaker Fiend Photobook

Written by Lori Lobenstine with photography by Amanda Lopez, FSF is on the verge of releasing their first ever photo documentary of women all over the world and their passion for sneakers.

"More than a love story about shoes, the book documents how these sneaker lovers push beyond stereotypes for girls and women, using kicks to be both athletic and sexy, hip and tomboyish, grown and youthful, as they define who they are—and who women can be—on their own terms."

MTV Bans Kanye West’s “Monster” Video

 

The attack against Kanye West’s newest videos continues. After Epilepsy Action warned viewers of his “All of the Lights” clip, MTV has now decided to ban Yeezy’s artful “Monster” video. The popular music network responded to feminine activists activists Sharon Haywood and Melinda Tankard’s petition asking MTV and Universal Music Group to pull the video labeling it as offensive and misogynistic.

For Spring/Summer 2010, Tom Ford releases a new style of glasses inspired by the character George Falconer, played by Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth, in the Ford-directed film A Single Man. With a title like “Cook It Down” form your Pusha, it lets one assume what the rapper is referring to, but don't  let the stove fool you! With rumors of a forthcoming pack with the “Laney” and “Grape” colorways, this Wolf Grey model, as the detailed shots show, is a neck-snapper that will satiate the hungry Air Jordan V-seekers. Snoop Dogg gets T-Pain on the second single from his LP Doggumentary, due March 29. Entitled “Boom,” the Scott Storch produced track samples the 80s jam “Situation” by Yaz. Expect an accompanying visual for this to appear on March 8.

The latest from Christian Louboutin makes its way to the brand’s online store. Merging a classic loafer style with deck shoe elements, the brand steers clear of the recent studded designs with a low key, quality style. The shoes are produced with premium navy blue leather while sporting white contrast details, including tassle accents. Retail is set at $695 USD.

iPad 2

Apple CEO Steve Jobs makes surprise appearance to unveil the second generation of iPad, the iPad2. The new iPad 2($500-$829) is thinner(33% thinner than the original), lighter than the current iPad. "The new iPad 2 is actually thinner than your iPhone 4," Jobs said. It features faster dual-core A5 processors (2x faster than the original, faster graphics, front and rear cameras, 10 hours of battery life, and the same 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD screen. And the iPad 2 will work on AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Apple also introduced two accessories: an HDMI out cable($39) for video mirroring up to 1080p  and a "Smart Cover" that magnetically attaches to the iPad and when open automatically wakes the screen and goes back to sleep upon closing.

Air Jordan XII Low / Black / Patent

In 1996, when the Air Jordan XII was first released, there were no low top models released from the that year when the OG dropped. It wasn’t until 2004 when they were offered as a low top retro in obsidian, blue, and white and another in white and black. Now, 7 years later in 2011, we get another low top version of a shoe that used Japan’s rising sun as an inspiration for the design on the upper.  No more information is available as far as the release of this low version, so stay up on game for more info.

Oliver Peoples Vintage Lookbook

Oliver Peoples founder Larry Leight was inspired to explore his personal archive of original Oliver Peoples designs. After losing himself in a time machine of memories, Larry discovered several iconic, brand-defining styles with original vintage glass lenses in rare shades. Convinced that interest in these classic styles is just as strong today as it was twenty years ago, he wanted to make some available to select customers. Since very few originals still exist, and because it is essential that the same attention to detail, craftsmanship and the integrity of the original styles be retained, the brand reached out to the same Japanese factory to reproduce these designs in a limited run. Bronx rapper YC the Cynic released his long-awaited Fall FWD mixtape last night at midnight, and the buzz is already palpable on the internet.
